Do you remember this song? Did you sing. it as a young child?
Were you ever lonely hoping for something more? I remember singing it and hoping for something beautiful in my life.
Not everyone dreams. Or at least many forget how to dream.
Dreaming has been a struggle for me. I got used to how things were. I didn’t expect things to be too grand or wonderful. I settled for okay. It seemed foolish to dream, and no one ever encouraged me to do much.
Now, when I hear a survivor of exploitation talk about not having hope or really believing that there is hope, I want to dream for them! How can life be so empty, so dry, to not have hope for SOMETHING better? But so often they learned hope just made things hurt more. Why be foolish and hope for what they will never have.
A survivor once told me, “There is no past, there is no future. There is only surviving today.”
At Redeem & Restore Center, we believe every person was made in the image of God. They are worthy of love and support. We like to come alongside women recovering from a shattered life of exploitation and trafficking and empower them with consistent support, love and opportunities to discover who God created them to be!
