Walking alongside trafficking survivors is a honor. Yet, it is not for just anyone. Trauma & Survivor Informed training is just the first important step. Committed and able to provide consistency would be the next requirement. Then, we have an application process that includes a lot of background information, references, an official background check, and interview process.
Our mission to love, restore, and support trafficked and exploited women sounds like a wonderful plan. What it looks like is a bit more complicated.
Women’s lives have been shattered: physically, emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually. They come with LOTS of baggage- to put it simply. Generally, people do not have a lot of patience to deal with other peoples baggage- right?
Our team of advocate coaches are not counselors or psychologists. We have a team of people who see her brokenness and find they desire to enter into that brokenness to help support and encourage them to take courageous steps toward a new way of living.
As the founder of RRC, I have been learning, growing and leading others to do this skilled volunteer work. I have also had to keep working on all the other areas of our organization to keep moving forward in our vision. I can not do everything well; we need many skilled people to do all the work that is needed. That is why I am so excited that Lori Reesman is stepping up to be our Team Leader for our advocate coaches!
Lori shares her why here: “I got involved with RRC as it aligns with my passion- To see women redeemed and restored from the harm that has been done through sexual abuse. It is amazing to know firsthand, that God can and will go into the deepest wound and bring healing. This transformation is powerful, it created the passion in me for others to experience this too. He alone restores their rightful image as his.”
“I am a broken and restored vessel, that he called to be part of helping women see their true beauty in him. I know how important it is to have a safe and healthy advocates team: ensuring that they care well for themselves as they care for others. I look forward to serving with this special team of advocates. To encourage and grow as we come alongside others in their deepest wounds,” says Lori.
TOGETHER, we will watch many women become redeemed and restored! Women becoming all they were created to be!
