Art Therapy

Using art as an expressive medium can help survivors communicate, overcome, stress, acknowledge their feelings and explore different aspects of their own personality.

The American Art Therapy Association describes art therapy as “a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well being of individuals.  It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people resolve conflicts, problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem, self-awareness and achieve insight.

Various types of art that will be incorporated: collage, sculpture, drawing, crochet, painting, crafting, jewelry, quilting, etc.
