Imagine waking up day after day to cruel conditions and forced to participate in sex with strangers or perform labor tasks with no payment and harsh treatment. (This is a very nice explanation) Let’s read that again: Imagine waking up day after day to cruel conditions and forced to participate in sex with strangers or perform labor tasks with no payment and harsh treatment. This nightmare is a reality for many men, women, and children around the world, AND in YOUR COMMUNITY. A very dark, lucrative and hidden in plain sight business. This nightmare is not appearing enough in our media and news coverage although it should be.
It has been documented (these are new laws) in all 72 counties of Wisconsin. Changes are being made, one by one, with medical professionals, lawyers, judges, police, detectives, foster care professionals, and others in looking for signs of someone being trafficked, how to handle them and what changes need to be made. Change will continue by individuals, one at a time.
The most common, disgusting and lucrative form of human trafficking is sex trafficking. Yet, this is what we least hear about. It is an ugly topic, but it cannot be ignored. There needs to be more publicity of this sick business. We need to fight this.
“How can I help fight such a huge problem like human trafficking as just an average American?”
By supporting organizations such as Redeem and Restore Center and spreading awareness to influence others, we can help fight human trafficking. Together we can fight this terrible problem and fight the silence that has been surrounding it.
Awareness leads to prevention, intervention and restoration.
